George Newell's Free Village Medical Camp
We have been providing George Newell’s free medical camps since 2015. Before the pandemic we strived to do these day clinics once a month, but actually ended up doing 18 camps per year. Unfortunately, post-pandemic, we had to stop providing such services in Nepal. Finally, after 2 years, we were able to start again last February. We were scheduled to do one in March and April, but with the local election happening in May, the government did not allow us to provide such services in any parts of Nepal. Presently, we are waiting until the government allows us to travel back to the villages with our medical group. Our founder is planning to visit again in the latter part of May for 3 weeks. During this time we will make up the March, April, and May camps within 3 days. George Newell was also sponsored to do a cataract operation twice a year, but it is also currently put on hold for the same government reason. We have scheduled to do this in June in the eastern part of Nepal, Bhadrapur, by the border of India and Nepal.
